Man so driven by films and strong roles in this year's festival, and in the spirit of the opening film, we are profiling some of the most kick-ass women representing at SXSW this week. First: Barry Munday and Mr. Nice-star Chloe Sevigny.
Chloe Sevigny has been a staple of the indie scene since his debut film Kids Larry Clark, one of a handful of young actresses whose career consists of a constant challenge papers and few critical errors. He has worked with a litany of modern-day authors (including Werner Herzog, Harmony Korine, Woody Allen, David Fincher, and Lars von Trier), and stars in unorthodox HBO drama Big Love. Naturally, it is located at the top Sevigny our list of brave and courageous women representing this year's slate of SXSW.
Cinematical Sevigny reached the day after Barry Munday, the first of his two films at the festival, debuted. (His second movie, Mr. Nice, was released the next day.) Barry Munday, written and directed by Chris D'Arienzo Rock (Broadway-old), is the tale of a crowd pleasing portable shower verifiable (Patrick Wilson), only really becomes a man when he loses his testicles in a horrible incident Sevigny and Judy Greer as a star of two completely opposite sisters who are involved in Barry's life. As the premiere at the Paramount Theater Austin Packed sanctioned SXSW is probably the perfect place to debut off the wall comedy, which features a memorable scene involving Sevigny, a strip club, and chorus classic Whitesnake "Here I Go Again On My Own".
