MAKE Flickr pool member Joel Miller (jmillerid) is planning some LED lighting for your home and has been evaluating the Luxeon Rebel LEDs. The engraved plaques to experiment with different colors, heat values, etc.

Luxeon Rebels are designed to dissipate heat through a "platform of any connection" welding directly on the chip. There are specific guidelines for the PCB design to draw the heat from the LED that includes a multitude of ways to increase surface plated copper. I am unable to create pathways plated homemade my tables, so my intention is to mount the board to an aluminum plate using a screw aluminum to draw heat through the hole in the center of the board.
