MAKE Flickr pool member Joel Miller (jmillerid) is planning some LED lighting for your home and has been evaluating the Luxeon Rebel LEDs. The engraved plates to experiment with different colors, heat values, etc.

Luxeon Rebels are designed to dissipate heat through a "docking" of solder directly onto the chip. There are specific guidelines for the PCB design to draw the heat from the LED that includes a multitude of ways to increase plated copper surface. I am unable to create pathways clad in my pictures made at home, so my intention is to mount the board to an aluminum plate with a screw aluminum to draw heat through the hole in the center of the board.
